Recreation Programs

These programs listed below run for nine months out of the year and provide a variety of scheduled physical and social activities for individuals with developmental disabilities aged five and up. Age limits are identified for certain programs. It also provides opportunities for athletic competition in Special Olympics for various seasonal sports for ages eight and up. Programming is held at various times and locations. Please request a Recreation Registration packet for more information and calendars.

Recreation Participation Requirements

Recreation Registration Packet and $30.00 annual fee for participants.

Annual recreation fees are a contribution to service costs and are billed in September for each recreation calendar year.

Consent For Emergency Medical Treatment form is required for all participants who attend programs.

This program serves individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Our goal is to maintain consumer participation in their chosen programs; however, we reserve the right to suspend consumers from active participation in recreation programs if they present a hazard to themselves or others. In the event that a consumer’s behaviors or health problems constitute a hazard, the consumer will be formally suspended until it is determined that the danger no longer exists. Support Coordinators and caregivers will be consulted regarding any such suspensions or reinstatements.

 

Other Services Offered Through the Recreation Department

Camp Warren summer camp program providing a day and residential camp experience.

Saturday Adult Respite Program providing a variety of planned activities for adults who are DDD eligible and living with their families/in the community. 

 

Cancellation Information

Sometimes occasions arise when it is not considered safe or wise to hold a scheduled activity, usually due to the weather and road conditions. If you are unsure if a program will be held, please follow the instructions below:

In case of bad weather, contact the Arc office.

 

When it is possible to reschedule a cancelled or postponed activity, the recreation office will attempt to notify the usual participants in that activity.

If an emergency arises, try to reach the Arc office first. Office hours are from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. After office hours, leave a message on extension 209 or 206.

 

Transportation Providers

Transportation is a courtesy service, provided free of charge, and is subject to availability. New participants must call the recreation office to arrange for it.
