The Arc of Warren County is so pleased to announce the recipients of The Arc of Warren County Awards Banquet, which will be held at 6 p.m. on November 17, 2022 at Bello Giorno Restaurant in Belvidere.

Internationally renowned speaker to be featured at Autism Acceptance Month event

Dr. Kerry Magro’s Presentation “Defining Autism: From Nonspeaking to Professional Speaker” Was Made Possible through the Collaborative Efforts of Four Organizations

Washington, NJ, January 19, 2022 – Autism advocate and internationally renowned speaker Dr. Kerry Magro will present “Defining Autism: From Nonspeaking to Professional Speaker,” at Warren Hills High School Auditorium, on April 11, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and registration is available at Defining Autism (salsalabs.org)

The program, in recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, is hosted by event sponsor Greenwich Autism Alliance Foundation, The Arc of Warren County, Abilities of Northwest Jersey, Inc., and Warren Hills High School.

The Arc of Warren County Enters into a Memorandum of Understanding with The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County

Washington, N.J., December 2, 2021 – The Arc of Warren County and The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County (DASACC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding.

The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to address the mutual goals and responsibilities regarding DASACC and The Arc of Warren County to strengthen communities by providing seamless service access for survivors with disabilities, a commitment to strategic planning, increasing awareness about service availability, and creating opportunities that improve the lives of individuals with disabilities who have been affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Part of the agreement includes committing to cross training between both organizations and assigning staff members to facilitate on-going communication between partner agencies.

The Arc of Warren County is Awarded a Grant from the Greenwich Autism Alliance Foundation for $3,000

Washington, N.J., April 8, 2021 – The Arc of Warren County was recently awarded a grant from the Greenwich Autism Alliance for $3,000. These funds will be utilized to purchase tee shirts for the organization’s Summer Camp and Recreation Program through Camp Warren, as well as other items that will elevate the camp experience for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  These products include a new chest freezer, a portable training soccer goal set, a portable basketball hoop, a basketball, fishing lures, tackle and lines and portable dining chairs.

Staples in Mansfield Donates $1,400 in Supplies to The Arc of Warren County through their Care Packages Program

Washington, N.J., March 10, 2021 – Staples in Mansfield recently donated 280 $5 care packages to The Arc of Warren County. The care packages were donated to the Agency’s Day Program and Recreation Departments and contain crayons, colored pencils, hand sanitizers and pocket folders.

Special Olympics New Jersey Donates Almost $800 Worth of Game Equipment to The Arc of Warren County

Washington, N.J., February 3, 2021 – Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have been unable to participate in Special Olympics activities, or even gather with others that they do not reside with, for almost a year.  In an effort to help with the void of being able to gather and participate in athletic competition, Special Olympics New Jersey donated athletic game equipment to different agencies that serve this vulnerable population, including The Arc of Warren County.

The Arc of Warren County’s Radiothon = A Success!

Washington, N.J., July 26, 2022 – The 32nd Arc of Warren County’s Radiothon was an astounding success. On June 8, 2022, WRNJ Radio dedicated an entire day of programming focused on the benefits of The Arc of Warren County services and the positive impact that the Agency has on the individuals and families that are served.

 

The Arc of Warren County is Named Giving Tap Charity for Czig Meister Brewing for the Month of July

Washington, N.J., June 29, 2022 – The Arc of Warren County was named the Giving Tap Charity for July 2022 by Czig Meister Brewing in Hackettstown.  For every pint of Huntsman that is purchased during July, $1 is donated back to The Arc of Warren County.  The Arc of Warren County will have a designated area within the brewery to showcase the organization’s materials during July. In addition, representatives from The Arc will have a presence at the brewery periodically to talk about job opportunities, upcoming events, fundraisers and services.

The Arc of Warren County Names Group Home in Memory of Former Board of Directors President

The Oxford Group Home is Renamed The Pieter Woodcock Group Home

Washington, N.J., May 13, 2022 – The Arc of Warren County community came together, on May 9, 2022, for a dedication ceremony in memory of Pieter Woodcock, a beloved member of The Arc of Warren County family. The Oxford Group Home will now be known as The Pieter Woodcock Group Home. The recognition was a result of The Arc Board of Directors’ decision to celebrate Pieter’s longstanding commitment to the organization posthumously.

A Look at Washington’s Hidden Gem – Serendipity

The Arc of Warren County’s Classic Gift Shop Provides a Meaningful Work Experience for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Washington, N.J., March 15, 2022 – The definition of the word Serendipity is the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. Serendipity is also the name of The Arc of Warren County’s classic gift shop located right in the heart of Washington at 40 East Washington Avenue. It is perhaps a hidden gem in the area, but the happy feelings that customers may have from shopping at Serendipity is most definitely not caused by chance.

 

The Arc of Warren County is Awarded a $12,680 Grant from The John A. & Margaret Post Foundation

Washington, N.J., February 9, 2022 – The Arc of Warren County has recently been awarded a grant in the sum of $12,680 from The John A. & Margaret Post Foundation for the cost of a power generator at one of the Agency’s 17 group homes in Washington.

The Arc of Warren County is the Recipient of Student Fundraiser

Washington, N.J., April 18, 2021 – The Arc of Warren County was the recipient of a recent student fundraiser. Centenary University’s Sports Entertainment class raised $735 for the organization.

A group from Professor David Perricone’s class ran a Virtual Trivia Night for The Arc of Warren County recently as part of a course assignment.

Carinne Buzzuto, The Arc of Warren County’s Training Coordinator and Self-Advocacy Adviser, Will Receive the Exceptional Direct Support Professional of the Year from the New Jersey Self-Advocacy Project

Washington, N.J., March 22, 2021 – The Arc of Warren County’s Training Coordinator and Self-Advocacy Adviser, Carinne Buzzuto, will be receiving the Exceptional Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Year Award from the New Jersey Statewide Self-Advocacy Network and New Jersey Self-Advocacy Project (a program of The Arc of New Jersey). This event will be held during their virtual Award Luncheon on April 17, 2021.

The Arc of Warren County Will Hold a Virtual Event in Honor of Developmental Disabilities Month and World Down Syndrome Day on March 19, 2021

Washington, N.J., February 23, 2021- The Arc of Warren County will be holding a virtual event with Diana Stolfo, Experienced Down Syndrome Self-Advocate, at 3 p.m. on March 19, 2021 in honor of Developmental Disabilities Month and World Down Syndrome Day.  Diana will speak about her life experiences and why self-advocacy is so important for differently-abled people.  This event is free and open to the public. She will be introduced by Tom Baffuto, Executive Director of The Arc of New Jersey and John Whitehead, CEO of The Arc of Warren County.
